The Calon Lân 300 is a point-to-point 300-mile ultra celebrating the legendary Cambrian Way – Wales’ mountainous spine. This is a true adventure, with a staggering 74,000 ft of climbing along rugged, remote trails.

Starting in the north and finishing in the south, you’ll traverse epic landscapes, from the towering peaks of Eryri National Park through the wild hills of Mid Wales, and down into the rugged mountains of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

You’ll have 7.5 full days (180 hours) to complete the challenge, with checkpoints spaced along the route to rest, refuel, and get ready for the next section of trail.

The event is non-stop, fully supported, with food and drink at aid stations, sleep stations, a skilled medical team, and live tracking so friends and family can follow your journey. Cross the finish line and you’ll earn your Calon Lân finisher buckle – a well-earned badge of honour after 300 miles through the heart of Wales.

We know committing to a 300 miler (who does that) is a big investment of time and energy, and we want to make your experience as rewarding as possible. The entry fee for the Calon Lân 300 is £799.00, and spaces are limited to 150 runners with a further 30 spaces on our waitlist for 2027, so don’t miss your chance to join us in 2027.

Checkpoints

The Calon Lân 300 features 11 checkpoints plus the finish line – and yes, that’s a serious understatement. You’ll never have to go far without encountering some of the most incredible volunteers around. Our checkpoints are fully stocked with delicious food, gallons of refreshing drinks, and wholehearted volunteers who go above and beyond to support you on your adventure. If you have any food allergies, just let us know ahead of time – unfortunately, we aren’t mind readers!

Cut offs

At Calon Lân, we’re all about the adventure, and we don’t want you stressing about cut-off times. You have 55 hours to complete the 100 miles, 115 hours for 200 miles and 180 hours for the 300 miles. Trust us, that’s a lot of time.

Drop bags

Drop bags are recommended but not compulsory. Each runner is allowed one drop bag (max dimensions: 45 cm × 75.5 cm × 45 cm, maximum volume 132 litres). Your drop bag will be available at every aid station along the route and will be returned to the finish line in time for your arrival. Please note that plastic boxes or suitcases are not allowed.

The course

The Calon Lân 300 is a seriously achievable adventure with the right training and mindset. Following the rugged spine of Wales along the Cambrian Way, this long-distance challenge packs in huge scenery, big climbs, and the kind of journey that rewards patience and grit in equal measure. It’s a proper mountain adventure – but one that becomes incredibly doable when you take it step by step.

From wild moorlands and rocky ridgelines to quiet valleys, ancient forests, and sweeping high passes, the Cambrian Way serves up some of the most spectacular terrain Wales has to offer. The route constantly shifts in character, keeping things fresh and engaging – whether you’re grinding up a steady climb, cruising along a runnable stretch, or pausing for a moment to take in those endless Welsh views.

There are sections where you can really find your rhythm, mixed with tougher mountain ground that reminds you you’re crossing the true heart of Wales. It’s all part of the journey – and part of what makes the Calon Lân 300 such a memorable challenge.

The Calon Lân 300 is a mental and physical rollercoaster: big miles, big elevation, and a deep sense of adventure. But it also carries that unmistakable Welsh warmth – a big, satisfying cwtch waiting for you at the finish. With the right preparation and mindset, this is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.

What to expect once you sign up?

Once you’ve secured your spot, you’ll receive a friendly confirmation email at the address you registered with.

From there, we’ll keep you in the loop with a series of updates:
• 12 weeks before the event – important prep info
• 8 weeks before the event – course and logistics reminders
• 4 weeks before the event – final details and tips

That’s not the end of communication! A couple of weeks before the race, expect a phone call from our Race Director. Don’t worry – you haven’t done anything wrong. It’s simply a peace-of-mind check to make sure you’re ready for the big day.

We’re not promising an easy run – the Calon Lân packs in roughly 74,000 ft of elevation gain. But with the right training and a solid plan on race day, this is a very achievable challenge.

Fantastic event that is totally made by the superb organisation and the amazing crew of volunteers.
The Epona is a tough event which you would expect for a 100 miler but the payoff is out of this world.
The views on the course are simply breathtaking but this pales next to the complete support of Rhys and the rest of the crew. I felt special at every single moment of this race right from the pre race phonecall, registration and pre race briefing through every checkpoint and right to the finish line, nothing was too much for the crew no matter the time of the day.
